I've been working for a year
Do you know how I know?

Because during the team meeting, I got my safety and service award for 1 year.

It's a black teardrop. Ok. I guess maybe it is bitumen drop instead of tears.

Regardless, a teardrop-shaped pin with "1" in the middle.

I appreciate the gesture but a happier shape and maybe a lighter color would have been ...a bit not-so-depressing.

It's finally summer. Full, warm days and the sun has stopped setting. We sleep in twilight.

I can't imagine sleeping in twilight. I love the teardrop thing, though. How has your first year been? Was the winter ok in the end or was it as bad as those youtube videos made it out to be?

The first year wasn't as bad as I was braced for and wasn't as good as I had hoped for. I think.

Since I have a habit of forgetting things that make me unhappy, my memories of the winter focus only on the good such as Adam spending Christmas here and snowboarding and sleeping soooooo well on the bus and how nice it was that construction season ended.

I am glad I don't work in the field. I spent most if not all my time bundled up all nice indoors.
